This is a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations while supporting the broader mission of the church. This role will be responsible for taking the lead on financial reporting, implementing strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with Australian tax regulations and accounting standards (AASB). Other aspects of this role include: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with AASB and company policies. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, internal auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies (e.g. ATO, ASIC). Lead the preparation of audit schedules, financial documentation, and supporting materials required for both internal and external audits. Preparation of BAS, FBT, income tax returns, and other statutory compliance requirements. Develop and implement financial controls and accounting procedures to improve operational efficiency. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling activities. Supervise and mentor junior accountants and finance officers. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and system upgrades. Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate governance policies. Ideally, the successful candidate will bring: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CA or CPA qualified, with strong knowledge of AASB, tax legislation, and compliance. 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Proven experience preparing for audits and working with internal/external auditors. Skilled in MYOB, Xero, or SAP, with advanced Excel proficiency. Strong communicator who thrives both independently and in a team. Committed to continuous improvement, adaptable, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
