Hostplus is seeking a technically skilled professional to lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of our climate risk management and sustainability reporting, in alignment with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (AASB S1 & S2). As the Responsible Investment Manager – Climate Change, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Hostplus’ commitment to net zero by 2050. You will lead the development of climate-related processes, conduct advanced modelling and analysis, and ensure our disclosures meet regulatory and stakeholder expectations. This role directly contributes to optimising long-term net investment returns for members by embedding climate risk and sustainability into investment processes. Through scenario testing, emissions analysis, and financial modelling, you will help mitigate risks and identify opportunities that strengthen portfolio resilience and performance—supporting Hostplus’ strategic transition to a low-carbon future. The opportunity As a Responsible Investments Manager – Climate Change, you will lead the enhancement, implementation, and management of Hostplus’ climate risk management framework in alignment with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (AASB S1 & S2). You will develop and apply robust climate-related processes, including quantitative scenario analysis, stress testing, and physical and transition risk assessments across the portfolio. This includes conducting comprehensive emissions baselining across all scopes and categories, including financed emissions, and monitoring progress toward emissions reduction targets. You will apply advanced statistical and mathematical modelling to quantify climate-related financial impacts and address sustainability challenges, while identifying and prioritising decarbonisation opportunities to evolve Hostplus’ transition plan in support of its net zero by 2050 commitment. In addition, you will conduct financial modelling and due diligence for renewable energy and low-carbon technology investments, and leverage AI and machine learning for predictive modelling, data analysis, and automated reporting. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed documentation for climate risk management processes and practices, and contribute to other ESG-related tasks that support the Fund’s broader sustainability objectives. About you Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Finance, Engineering, Data Science); postgraduate qualifications (Masters/PhD) highly regarded. Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in climate-related financial analysis, scenario modelling (e.g., DCF, stress testing), emissions data validation, and sustainability reporting within superannuation, institutional investment, or asset management. Experience in GHG emissions accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3) using recognised standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064), and tracking net-zero targets, energy efficiency, and renewable energy metrics. Proven ability to apply ESG frameworks (e.g., AASB S1/S2, ISSB, TCFD, CSRD, SBTi), conduct climate stress testing, and meet reporting and assurance requirements. Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Excel (Advanced), Tableau or Power BI, and experience with ESG platforms (e.g., SASB Navigator, MSCI ESG Manager, GRESB). Familiarity with climate risk tools (e.g., PACTA, XDI) and geospatial data for portfolio risk assessment. CapEx/OpEx forecasting, ROI modelling for climate-related investments, and integration of sustainability data into enterprise systems and governance frameworks. Experience leading cross-functional projects and engaging with senior stakeholders on climate strategy and reporting. Strong communication, project management, and organisational skills; detail-oriented with a proactive approach and ability to manage multiple priorities. What can we offer you?
