The Tip Inspector / General Hand is responsible for directing and managing traffic within the site, inspecting and classifying incoming loads, and identifying any non-conforming materials in line with company policies and procedures. This role plays a key part in maintaining effective communication between customers, weighbridge staff, and operators regarding the classification of tipped products. In addition, the position involves carrying out general labouring duties, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, upholding safety practices, and maintaining the overall quality and presentation of the site. Duties & Responsibilities Manage incoming traffic and ensuring the safe flow of traffic within the tip area and to and from weighbridges using effective communication with customer, suppliers and staff. Directs and educates customers to provide correct disposal information, appropriate disposal areas and proper methods of disposal. Conduct quality control measure on various wastes coming into the site and transfer station to identify hazardous waste and its removal before it enters the waste stream. Inspecting raw feed, to classify the waste and to identify non-acceptable contaminants, including asbestos and putrescible waste. Reporting waste classification to the weighbridge in a clear and precise manner, detailing bin size where necessary. Coordinate the stoppage of various activities within the Site and transfer station to pull hazardous waste materials from the waste streams. Assist with operational requirements as directed by Site Supervisor. Perform general maintenance tasks and general labouring tasks as required. Housekeeping of site including bin area and driveways. Sorting of various waste materials into relevant bins, whilst adhering to relevant rules and regulations; and Classifying of various waste materials. Remain safety focused at all times, ensuring PPE is always worn and all hazards are reported.
