We have an exciting opportunity available for an Asset Planning Engineer to join the APA Networks team in Thomastown VIC, on a fixed term contract to November 2027 . Reporting to the Manager Integrity - Networks, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of our facility assets, while contributing to innovative projects that support our journey to Net Zero. Key Responsibilities Champion the integrity and safety of facility assets including gate stations, regulator stations, and meter sets. Identify and manage risks proactively, developing solutions that prevent and mitigate issues. Deliver compliance and risk reduction actions through strong stakeholder collaboration. Support asset integrity projects through planning, risk assessments, failure analysis, and scope development. Communicate effectively across teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your background Tertiary qualifications in engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience. AICIP or API certification is a plus. Experience with facilities construction and operations—especially pressure vessels, valves, heaters, and piping. Ability to assess defects and recommend safe operating limit and determine effective repair plans. A creative mindset with a passion for improving engineering solutions. Commitment to professional integrity and adherence to industry standards (e.g. AS2885.3, AS4645). About the Team Networks manages and operates local distribution networks and transmission pipelines that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia. This is an exciting time for the Networks team, we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including biogas and hydrogen. Also, we have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
