Our Compliance team is seeking an Assistant Compliance Officer to join our team. This exciting opportunity offers a unique opportunity to provide high-level support within the compliance space. As a key contributor to the team, you will provide assistance in all aspects of proactive compliance and inspection programs. What you’ll do You will perform a range of activities including the delivery of compliance programs by assisting in field and desk-based audits and inspections and interacting and negotiating with stakeholders to ensure compliance with a range of legislative requirements. You will also be responsible for a range of administrative tasks and be required to respond to complaints related to non-compliance of legislation. Key Responsibilities: Undertake field/desk audits and inspections and liaise with stakeholders and/or their representatives to determine liability, generate assessments and/or prepare submissions to recommend course/s of action to ensure compliance with legislation Prepare correspondence and reports including inspection and audit reports for stakeholders and their representatives to inform and support decision making Obtain information, negotiate with stakeholders and/or their representatives on a range of audit issues, and compliance matters, to gain audit acceptance and facilitate outcomes Conduct research and participate in audit and other special project taskforces/teams to contribute to business and organisational outcomes Maintain currency with established procedures and policy, make recommendations and contribute to the implementation of change to support optimal service delivery Identify instances of non-compliance matters and gather and provide information and/or evidence for escalation and/or referral to the relevant team to support compliance activities Make enquiries of various sources including accessing and extracting information from other agency databases to establish compliance with legislation administered by the organisation, and to determine relevant liability Update and amend various organisational databases, to record enquiries and recommendations to ensure the availability of current information and to support effective business reporting The roles report to the Manager Building Inspections. What we’re looking for Maintaining technical competence in the legislation administered by the organisation while working in a high volume and constantly changing legislative environment Experience in or willingness to learn all aspects of undertaking desktop/field-based compliance audits Negotiating with and gaining audit acceptance from stakeholders and/or their accounting and/or legal representatives, while maintaining positive customer relationships Working with customers from diverse backgrounds given varying levels of understanding of legislative requirements and obligations To be successful in this role, you will require: Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent experience) or preparedness to undertake an identical or similar employer-sponsored program. A thorough understanding of or willingness to learn the formal conduct of investigations, evidence gathering and review process.
