Description About the Role: The Waalitj Foundation is looking for a Youth Engagement Officer to partner with the Midland and Joondalup Police Forces to provide culturally appropriate support services to First Nations youth and their families. The Youth Engagement Officer position will work with participants who have been referred by the police force to assist with transitioning program participants into the workforce and providing non-judgmental support to enable the transition. The position will work with participants and their families to cross skills gaps and set them up with a strong support network to make a meaningful change for individuals and their community. The role offers extensive training opportunities and support to the successful applicant. This is a full-time position under a fixed term contract. About you: To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements and experience: Demonstrated experience in the provision of building positive relationships and providing culturally appropriate support to participants with complex needs, and their families. Knowledge of the problems that confront First Nations youth and practical experience in providing support to people struggling with these circumstances. Experience working with justice clients or within justice services/custodial settings is an advantage Ability to gather data and complete reporting requirements to meet quality assurance and contractual obligations Ability to build a network of support providers to provide assistance for program participants and their families.
