We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associate, Financial Control to join our Australia Controller team. This role is located in Australia ( Sydney ). The Australia Controllers Team are involved in all aspects of Legal Entity reporting including period end close procedures, statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting, preparation of tax filings, internal reporting (to management and Boards) and local GAAP accounting. The remit of the team is oversight, analysis and communication around the legal entities assigned to them. The team is also responsible for managing the external audit process. The senior associate works closely with the Country Controller as well as colleagues in the APAC region and BNY Group. In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: Reporting & Tax Contribution to monthly reporting: In partnership with the country controller, oversight of Australian legal entity results during the month end close and to escalate and assist in resolving issues. Review of results and variances to provide meaningful analysis of different aspects of the legal entity financials Preparation and processing of certain month end journals where necessary. Partnership with and review of work produced by the offshore team Contribution to monthly and quarterly board pack reporting Reporting analysis produced for a variety of stakeholders including the board of directors, internal management and in support of the regulatory reporting process. Assisting with continuous improvement activities such as the identification and analysis of exceptions Production and review of the regulatory reports in a timely manner prior to submission with the relevant regulatory bodies Partnering with the Operations team to ensure robust oversight of bank accounts and cash transactions. Monitoring Liquidity Levels of the Australia Branch and reporting around this. Statutory Financials Contributor to the production of the annual financial statements process for assigned entities Coordination of audit requests and facilitate engagement between auditors and other relevant contributors both locally and overseas. Contribution to the centralised audit processes in year-end audit (e.g. audit testing) Finance Initiatives and Projects Participation in assignments across lines of business, legal entities and geographies that have an impact on internal and external reporting, accounting and accounting processes. Contributing to the implementation of new or revised reporting, accounting and accounting process policies, procedures and reporting templates in order to provide effective financial planning, accounting and reporting of financial information. Provide accounting guidance to relevant stakeholders. Governance Maintain process documentation as required Oversight of bank transactions and the AP process Responsible for identifying and reporting risks, patterns or recurring issues and working with all necessary parties and technical teams to reach a resolution.
