About Your Opportunity Step into a pivotal role as Technical Lead – Dams within IPCD, where your expertise will shape the future of water infrastructure across South East Queensland. Here, you’ll steer the technical vision and governance for landmark dam projects—each valued at over $300 million—guiding them from initial planning through to delivery and successful handover. By implementing robust technical management frameworks, innovative tools, and proven protocols, you'll help raise the bar on project consistency and excellence. Your journey will begin with the strategically vital Lake MacDonald Dam Improvement Project (LMDIP) or the Sustaining Capital Dams, Weirs and Civil Delivery Program, with opportunities to expand your influence across Seqwater’s vast asset portfolio as needs evolve. Reporting directly to the Seqwater Technical Director – Dams and working closely with Project Directors, you’ll be at the forefront of major assignments, driving solutions that secure water for life and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come. Key responsibilities: Provide technical leadership, direction and decision making for one or more of Seqwater’s significant dam infrastructure planning and capital delivery projects, in the context that a given project may require: Significant capital works expenditure (e.g. in the vicinity of 100 million dollars or more) on a Referable dam in South East Queensland. Management of dam safety risks and other relevant technical risks during design, investigation, construction and commissioning over a multi-year timeframe. A team with strong capability and capacity in multidisciplinary dam engineering and other associated project supporting technical disciplines. A level of technical leadership and responsibility that is commensurate with the scale, consequence and complexity of these works. This is an important overarching technical leadership responsibility, as part of this, further elaboration on specific points of responsibility is provided below. Lead the Technical Governance and Engineering Assurance across specific Seqwater dam projects, including strategic planning, design, delivery, handover and operations and maintenance. As part of this function for each relevant project, facilitate and lead interaction by the project team with the project Technical Review Panel (which will often be comprised of experts in dam engineering and associated disciplines). Lead the technical interactions and input to project technical dam decisions from relevant groups throughout the business, including through Technical Working Groups About you To be successful in this role, you will possess: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering. Qualification or the ability to obtain registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland. Professional dam engineering experience across multiple geographic locations. Unrestricted Class C drivers license. Experience as a leader, including professional experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary technical team of professionals in a dynamic environment. This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role. Appointment to this role is subject to the provision of a national police check and may be subject to other medical/character requirements.
