The Opportunity Bellingen Shire Council has an exciting Capital Works delivery program that will be delivered in the coming years. Council’s annual Capital program is currently in excess of $50M, including bridge renewals, the Road Renewal program, disaster recovery projects as well as special projects such as the Urunga Boardwalk Replacement and upgrades to Connell Park. Reporting to the Civil Project Engineer, the Site Engineer will play a key role in delivering major capital and operational projects from scoping through to completion. The role is responsible for supporting Project Engineers and operational staff, managing subcontractors, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standard of quality. You’ll be involved in every stage of the project life cycle - from planning and design through procurement, construction, handover, and defects management - while ensuring compliance with Council’s policies, processes, and governance requirements. The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in civil infrastructure project delivery. A degree in Engineering will be highly regarded, along with experience in contract administration (GC21, AS4000 or AS2124), estimating, and applying NSW specifications. Experience with DRFA or TfNSW projects, soil and concrete testing, AutoCAD/design software, or community engagement will be an advantage. A current White Card and Class C Driver Licence are essential. To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical capability combined with the ability to manage people, stakeholders, and contractors effectively. You’ll need to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and the ability to negotiate and deliver practical outcomes. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with confidence in using Microsoft Office and other project systems, will support your success.
