The key duties of the position include The Role The Airport Reporting Officer (ARO) will be responsible for performing a range of tasks and duties to ensure the safe and high standard in the operation and maintenance of the AAvnTC Oakey Airfield. The ARO will be responsible for undertaking general light maintenance using equipment such as, mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, sweeping, and use of an all-terrain vehicle during wet weather and also liaising with Maintenance teams. The ARO will ensure the airport maintains compliance with regulations, Safety Reporting and will undertake Aerodrome inspections in accordance with both Defence and Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR/CASR). Duties include the assessing and maintenance of: Surface condition of the movement area, including cleanliness Surface condition of the runway, particularly the usability of unsealed pavements in wet conditions Markings, markers, wind direction indicators and aerodrome lighting systems Any obstacles which may infringe the approach, take-off, transitional, inner horizontal or other surfaces nominated by the procedure designer Animal or bird activities on and in the vicinity of the aerodrome Check fences or other devices that prevent persons and vehicles getting on the movement area Check currency of any outstanding Notice To All Airmen (NOTAM) ARO will be required to work a rotating roster involving shift work. ARO works on an on call basis for 7 days out of 21 regular shift. (Roster arrangements may change from time to time in accordance with operational needs). About our Team The Airfield Operations Team is responsible to the Airfield Safety and Operations Manager via the Airfield Operations Manager for the safe, effective and efficient delivery of airfield support services. This includes airfield operations, training area coordination and search and rescue duties. The successful delivery of these services ensures a safe and efficient airfield for the Army Aviation Capability. Aerodrome Reporting Officer certification from accredited training service provider. Previous experience in an airport operations role. AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate).
