Katherine West Health Board Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Alcohol and Other Drugs Coordinator (AOD) T his position is well suited to someone with relevant experience in AOD or Mental Health with an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities. Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia. Applications close 22 August 2025 Full time non-continuing contract until 8 September 2026 Position Description About the Opportunity The role of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Coordinator is to reduce harm relating to substance misuse in communities throughout the Katherine West region. Enhancing the capacity of individuals, families, and communities to prevent and reduce harm arising from substance misuse in the community. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): Ensure the AOD program integrates with existing PHC programs. Provide specialist AOD assessment, counselling and other services to clients as specified in client care plans. Ensure co-morbid mental health conditions are identified and addressed by appropriately qualified specialists. Ensure mechanisms are in place for health service patient record systems (Communicare) to collect AOD data to support client care and service planning. Oversee a continuous quality improvement approach to addressing AOD challenges within the Katherine West region and across the KWHB PHC team.
