About the Role We are seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Designer to join our business on a full-time basis. Reporting to our Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating detailed technical drawings and documentation, with a focus on the design of buoyancy mould tooling for a variety of projects within the resources, civil, and defence sectors. At Matrix, Solidworks is our primary design platform, and proficiency in this software is essential for success in this role. We're looking for someone with hands-on experience and confidence in using a wide range of Solidworks features. Specifically, you will have proven experience with: Working with configurations to manage design variations Using the equation editor Creating and managing assemblies, parts, and detailed drawings Performing FEA (Finite Element Analysis) on both parts and assemblies to validate designs. Some of the duties you will be responsible for include: Preparation of technical documents, such as proposal drawings, operation manuals, test plans, and detailed manufacturing drawings. Maintaining clarity and precision in technical information and providing clear manufacturing instructions. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and manage project expectations. Serve as a point of contact for technical design inquiries. Support the Quality team in inspecting manufactured components. Ensuring adherence to applicable standards in all design activities. Implementation of rigorous document control procedures to ensure traceability and currency of all technical documentation. Participation in the FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) process. Conduct testing on prototypes and analyse test data.
