Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville has an exciting opportunity for a Handyperson to join our team on a casual basis 3 days a week. Along with a team of small team, you will ensure that hotel areas are maintained to the highest possible standard and remain a pleasant and safe environment for all guests, visitors and employees. You will also be responsible for prioritising work orders through urgent requests, such as general repairs, work on minor projects and assist the Maintenance Team in carrying out preventative maintenance in and around the hotel. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your duties will include, but are not limited to: Carry out a range of minor repair and handyman tasks Must be neat and clean and have a good eye for detail Work with outside vendors for needed services Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls Assist to evaluate and repair minor faults. To assist maintain the pool areas within the Hotel. To repair and maintain furniture and fixtures. To repair and maintain faulty items in guest rooms To paint areas of the hotel, oil and stain furniture and decorations. To replace and install doors and cabinets To complete minor projects Able to react quickly when situations come up Demonstrated experience working unsupervised and under time constraints Workspace cleaned after each shift Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures Report maintenance problems, safety hazards Skills and Qualifications: The successful applicant will possess the following essential skills: Excellent communication with guests and internal departments Positive attitude General maintenance knowledge with relevant experience Strong eye for detail Ability to problem solve and rectify issues using relevant tools Experience in both painting or carpentry are highly desirable Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communication Able to work with a safety-first mentality
