Work & Training are seeking a passionate educator for the role of part time Literacy Educator/Tutor for 3 days a week within our Children and Schooling Program. The pay rate is based on $90,000 per annum pro-rata. About the position The role of Literacy Educator/Tutor is to support the learning needs of Aboriginal children including language, literacy, numeracy, digital & employability skills. The role will involve working directly with children and their parents/carers and with a range of stakeholders including schools, Aboriginal organisations and other professional services to support children’s learning, engagement in school and pathways into employment. The Literacy Education/Tutor will provide support on a one-to-one basis in a range of different locations. Work & training are seeking candidates that have tertiary qualifications in education or a related field. Candidates will need to demonstrate/ or show that they have experience and ability to: - identify individual learning needs of children particularly in the areas of reading and writing - develop individualised learning programs to support confidence and skills - work closely with parents & carers to support children with their learning goals - provide support for children that have learning difficulties or a trauma background It is an essential requirement that the successful incumbent will have: - Drivers Licence and the ability to travel to different locations in and around Hobart - A current Working with Vulnerable People Registration - agree to undergo a National Police Check - the ability to provide support after school hours - excellent communication skills Candidates are encouraged to contact Harry Atkinson (Foundation Skills Manager) if they have any questions about the role and responsibilities.
