The Opportunity: McArthur is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer, to support our client in a complex environment with manual processing and customization. This is a casual position offering full time hours, until the 5 th of February 2026. Prior experience within Local Government and using the system Chris21 is highly desirable. Key responsibilities: Support end-to-end payroll process for all Council employees Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including contract details, tax and superannuation information, and leave balances, ensuring data integrity across all payroll systems. Respond to payroll-related enquiries from staff and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner. Ensure payroll practices comply with the Fair Work Act, ATO obligations, and superannuation legislation. Assist with audit preparation. Generate standard and ad hoc payroll reports, month-end and year-end payroll reporting tasks. Selection Criteria: Demonstrate the ability to efficiently and accurately process end to end payroll functions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Chris21.
