ABOUT THE BRANCH The Strategic Procurement Branch (SPB) is responsible for the procurement, refresh and retender of non-ICT Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) coordinated procurement arrangements. These WoAG arrangements are established for commonly used goods or services by the Commonwealth for example; People Panel, Electricity, Management Advisory Services, Property Services and Automotive Leasing and Fleet Management Services. In addition, the SPB undertakes procurement processes for WoAG arrangements managed by other business areas in Finance. The SPB collaborates closely with entities and industry to deliver competitive, fit for purpose and value for money procurement outcomes for the Commonwealth. Support is also provided to other projects within the Procurement Division, as well as stakeholders and external entities. The key duties of the position include THE OPPORTUNITY As an Assistant Director, under broad direction you will apply your leadership abilities, strong procurement skills, experience and commercial acumen to support strategic WoAG tendering and contracting arrangements by: building and maintaining an inclusive, collaborative and high-performance team culture; leading procurement activities, procurement projects and people; managing the development of plans and procurement documentation; assisting with the management of external advisers, such as sectoral advisers and specialists, probity and legal advisers. This includes procurement of services, management of relationships and monitoring and management of the quality of services; drafting briefs and reports for Finance senior executives, the Minister for Finance and Parliament; and proactively and collaboratively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including other government entities and industry. You will have the ability to work with professional multi-disciplinary teams to lead and support the scoping, planning and execution of strategic procurements, tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
