Solicitor, Commercial Law Salary: $79,122 to $87,599 (Plus Superannuation) Ongoing, full-time role (flexibility may be available) Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available) The Role This position is a member in the Commercial Law Unit within the Legal and Legislation Branch, which deals with (among other things) funding arrangements, intellectual property, licensing, property including leasing, international offices and major projects. The successful applicant will undertake a wide variety of work, primarily with responsibility for providing advice and drafting documentation on Commercial Law matters affecting the Department. Key accountabilities: Provide legal advice and undertake research and analysis on legal, legislative and policy issues and proposals. Convey legal concepts and advice to clients, staff and stakeholders. Apply sound theoretical and practical legal knowledge in the development of advice and in drafting and reviewing a range of legal documentation, including agreements and instruments. Assist with a range of legal projects under direction, including attending to routine matters under supervision. The Team The position of Solicitor forms a part of the Legal and Legislation branch within the Corporate Services Group. The Branch's role is to provide high quality legal and legislative advice and services on a broad range of matters across the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR). About You Having completed your Law degree and been admitted or eligible to be admitted to practise as a lawyer in Victoria, you will bring to this role demonstrated experience as a government lawyer or in a corporate or private practice. Use your knowledge and understanding of commercial law principles, and experience in drafting a wide range of legal documentation in a commercial context, to contribute towards the vital work of this branch.
