The Gig An exciting opportunity has become available for a detail-focused, commercially astute, and strategically minded Estimato r to join a high-performing pre-contracts team in Brisbane. Working alongside Senior estimators, engineers and the wider delivery team, this key role will see you developing and pricing major pipeline and civil infrastructure tenders while gaining invaluable exposure to project strategy , commercial review, and client engagement. Based in Brisbane CBD working and reporting to the Commercial General Manager, you’ll ply your trade to assess constructability, interpret technical scope, and prepare accurate cost estimates for large-diameter pipelines, pump stations, trenchless installations, earthworks, and associated civil works. Collaboration sits at the heart of the role, working with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, analysing market rates, and feeding critical insights into bid submissions that strengthen the team’s position. You will be trusted with: Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for pipeline and civil projects Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and scope documents Coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing and maintaining strong relationships Analysing project risks, opportunities, and constructability during bid preparation Collaborating with senior team members to develop bid strategies and methodologies Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions and supporting documentation Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure estimates align with program and delivery requirements Driving continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes Staying current with industry pricing, trends, and construction methodologies Supporting the transition from tender award to project delivery handover What’s in your toolbox? Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or similar discipline 3 years of estimating experience on pipeline or civil infrastructure works Practical understanding of constructability, scope interpretation, and technical drawings Familiarity with pipeline construction methods, contracts, and industry standards Confident communicator with the ability to engage suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams Sharp analytical skills with a focus on accuracy, organisation, and meeting deadlines You’re the kind of person who thrives on precision, embraces complex challenges, and can balance meticulous detail with the bigger commercial picture.
