The Role: Reporting to the General Manager, Legal, the Senior Lawyer is responsible as the lead lawyer in major business projects, working directly with our project teams on new projects reaching financial completion or projects during construction, commissioning and in operations. This is a permanent full time role employed through our parent company and contracted to SQE. The Senior Lawyer proposes legal solutions to add value in our commercial contract negotiations, structures and deals, drafts agreements and ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities: Legal lead on negotiation and drafting with respect to renewable energy project agreements related to development, construction and/or operations. Provide practical and strategic commercial legal support to projects in delivery, commissioning and operations across the Squadron Energy business based on a sound understanding of the business’ goals and commercial drivers. Assist with other significant business contracts and projects being undertaken by the business. Provide legal support as required with respect to matters related to the financing of energy projects. Advising and presenting to senior management on matters requiring business approval. Assist in identifying and managing key legal risks for the group. Instruct and efficiently manage the use of external lawyers. Contribute as a senior member of the legal team, with ability to develop into a team leader; provide motivation, encouragement and opportunities for development. About you: Proven experience advising on delivery and operational issues for renewable energy and major infrastructure projects. Background in private practice or in-house legal roles within relevant industries. Skilled in drafting and negotiating contracts for design, procurement, delivery, and operations of large-scale projects. Experience managing claims and disputes in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. Strong legal expertise in commercial law, with specialist knowledge in energy, projects, and construction. Outstanding drafting, verbal communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Highly organised with excellent prioritisation , negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
