About the Role As a People & Culture Business Partner, you will provide excellent customer service in supporting stakeholder needs in all aspects of Human Resources (HR), including business partnering, employee relations, policy development and HR compliance and administration, while continuing to build and develop the support capability of the function and the continuous improvement of systems and processes. You will partner with a portfolio of managers to create a high-performing and collaborative culture that strives to deliver the business objectives and strategy through by planning, championing and execution of people initiatives in a sustainable manner. You will also be responsible for providing leading-edge consulting and advisory services on all aspects of the employee life cycle while working closely with the wider People & Culture team to ensure optimum employee engagement. Key Role Accountabilities: Provide a consultancy and advisory service to organisational stakeholders on People & Culture issues including the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, procedures and guidelines together with the interpretation of relevant Acts, Regulations, Awards and Industrial Agreements. Work as part of a small HR Business Partnering team in a collaborative and supportive manner to ensure that as a team, a high quality, timely and excellent customer service is provided to internal and external stakeholders. Build, manage and influence relationships across a broad range of portfolio stakeholders to ensure the delivery of contemporary people strategies and solutions. Foster a collaborative engagement approach with stakeholders in building key people capabilities that aid in achieving WMQ’s strategic objectives. Provide advice, guidance and support to stakeholders and people managers on matters pertaining to grievances to ensure successful outcomes comply with legislative requirements and align to WMQ’s values. High-level communication, consultation, influencing and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with a range of clients across multiple services and to work within the framework of various types of services within a function or directorate. Support a high-performance culture through ongoing and continuous performance management and responsive learning and development activities. Work with stakeholders in ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance in relation to workplace practices and policies. Provide information and advice to stakeholders on change management initiatives and assist with facilitation of these including organisational restructures, revisions to remuneration strategies, acquisition of new businesses, and HRIS. Research and make recommendations on best practice job design and undertake classification analysis using industrial instruments and point factor job evaluation methods ensuring system validity, compliance and integrity. Compile, analyse and report on a range of metrics including absenteeism, turnover, training, demographics, EEO, staff surveys and other mandatory and compliance reporting to both internal and external parties. Research, analyse and provide advice to stakeholders on specialised and emerging people & culture issues including industrial trends, salary packaging, motor vehicles/allowances, fringe benefits, probity assessments, immigration, and high-performance work practices. Research, develop and deliver training on a range of HR issues, polices and systems using adult learning principles to maximise participant learning. As required, aid and advice to Payroll and Work Health & Safety and other specialist areas of WMQ. About You Relevant HR, or equivalent tertiary qualifications with previous experience working in a HRBP or Specialist role with exposure to strategic and operational responsibilities. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable. Must have previous 5 years’ experience as a generalist role or similar role. Holder of a current Queensland driver’s licence and willingness to drive during duties. Demonstrated superior understanding and commitment to the principles of contemporary human resource management practice and continuous quality improvement. Strong knowledge of Industrial Relations and Employment Relations policies and demonstrated experience accurately interpreting a range of Legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements to provide high quality and pragmatic advice. Demonstrated ability to negotiate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders during the performance management process including staff, managers, industrial unions, Fair Work Commission to achieve resolution of complex intra organisational conflict. Demonstrated experience in the development and effective delivery of training programs to achieve specified learning outcomes Demonstrated ability to effectively research and undertake projects aimed at improving systems, processes and procedures relevant to human resource management Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills (including influencing, interviewing, counselling, negotiating, networking, and report writing) as well as the ability to build collaborative and effective working partnerships. Collaborate effectively with other HR Business Partners as part of a high performing team to ensure consistency of recommendations and support across WMQ. Strong PC-based applications skills in a Microsoft office environment. Ability to use and/or learn HR related systems especially with regards to their reporting capabilities. Well-developed organisational skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
