Senior Project Officer (AO6) About the Role We are seeking a Senior Project Officer (AO6) to join a government organisation. In this role, you will undertake activities to support the management of risks associated with abandoned mines. Location : Parkhurst (Rockhampton region) QLD Hourly r ate : 76.50 per hour (casual loading included) Contract: Full-time, 30 June 2026 (with potential extension) Key Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement project management plans. Prepare technical specifications and procurement documentation. Lead procurement planning and delivery in line with policies and budgets. Engage with stakeholders, including regional staff, contractors, and community representatives. Monitor contract performance against KPIs and manage contractor delivery. Coordinate technical investigations, field studies, and monitoring activities. Analyse technical reports and data to support project planning and risk management. Prepare briefs, reports, submissions, and ministerial responses. Facilitate risk assessment workshops and integrate risk controls into planning. Conduct site inspections and ensure WHS and HSEMP compliance. Travel to remote sites as needed, following departmental procedures. About You Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field (highly regarded). Experience in the mining industry (desirable). Project and/or risk management qualifications or experience (desirable). Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confident interpreting technical reports and data to inform decisions. Physically fit and able to undertake remote fieldwork. Holds a current open C class driver licence. Additional Information 36.25 hours per week (Mon to Fri). Regular travel required (overnight stays may be required). Be part of a collaborative and supportive team of 15 (no direct reports).
