Our client, the Historic Village Herberton, is an award-winning tourist attraction nestled in the scenic Atherton Tablelands. With over 60 original buildings showcasing life in the 1800s, this immersive museum village offers a truly unique opportunity to take the reins of a much-loved local destination. This part-time role is ideal for someone who has previously managed a tourism operation and is now seeking a step back from full-time work — perhaps looking to ease into retirement over the next few years while staying actively involved in a meaningful and engaging leadership role. On-site accommodation is available, and casual employment for a partner may be considered. About the Role As the Manager, you’ll be the key contact overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of the attraction. Reporting to the owners (who are based remotely), you will ensure the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience and represent the Historic Village within the tourism community. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the attraction (open 7 days, closed Christmas Day) Ensure a welcoming, safe and engaging visitor experience, including cleanliness, staff presentation, and exhibit operation Manage rosters, staff performance, training, and recruitment in line with seasonal demand Represent and promote the attraction to local and state tourism networks Coordinate events and group bookings throughout the year Maintain WHS standards and site safety for visitors and team members Liaise with local suppliers and service providers to ensure cohesive delivery Handle general admin and financial duties including reconciling daily takings Skills & Experience Previous experience managing a tourism, hospitality or visitor-focused operation Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills Confident with planning, budgeting, and staff coordination Comfortable with a hands-on, flexible approach Competent with basic digital systems and administrative tasks This Role Would Suit: An experienced tourism or hospitality professional who is now looking to slow down into a fulfilling, part-time leadership role — ideally with a view to retirement within the next 5 years but still wanting to contribute to a respected regional attraction and community.
