The day to day As the WHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving a consistent and robust approach to WHS management practice across Optus’s consumer function. Your responsibilities will include: • Developing and maintaining an understanding of Optus and relevant BU objectives, activities, and risks. • Demonstrating effective management of risks and hazards across projects and BU work activities. • Leading and participating in WHS-related incident investigations and internal/external audits. • Coaching and mentoring senior leaders to increase their WHS capability and capacity. • Implementing WHS continuous improvement projects and ensuring compliance with WHS legislative obligations. • Building and nurturing relationships with key collaborators to guarantee the steady implementation of effective WHS practices. Why you are our next WHS Manager You are a proven leader with outstanding technical WHS expertise and experience in complex, multi-site business operations. You have a degree or equivalent experience in OHS/Risk or a related area and a minimum of 3 years of WHS experience. Your strengths include: • Demonstrated understanding of and management of retail-related risks/hazards/controls. • Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organization. • Experience working with quality certified systems (e.g., ISO, AS/NZ). • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles to specific audiences. • Proven ability to lead and participate in WHS projects, facilitating continuous improvement of WHS management systems.
