As a senior leader within Skills SA, the Director, Skills Policy and Quality plays a pivotal role in designing, leading and influencing strategic policy directions that strengthen the state’s vocational education and training (VET) system. Reporting to the Executive Director Skills SA, this role is central to intergovernmental negotiations, representing South Australia nationally, and advising the Chief Executive and Minister on strategy and reform priorities. This is a role with breadth and influence, responsible for shaping South Australia’s skills system through intergovernmental engagement, the development of legislative and strategic initiatives and leading high-impact research and evidence-based reform. You will provide authoritative advice to senior leaders and Ministers, support the delivery of major policy projects aligned to workforce demand and oversee system-wide quality assurance and compliance functions, including the prudential oversight of TAFE SA. You will also drive performance reporting, governance uplift and foster a culture of continuous improvement across Skills SA. An experienced policy and strategy leader, you will bring strong analytical thinking, exceptional stakeholder engagement and a proven record in influencing cross-sector outcomes. Your experience in government and public policy is complemented by the ability to translate complexity into impact, build effective partnerships and lead with purpose and integrity. A deep understanding of the VET sector and experience operating at a senior level within government will be essential.
