About the Logan Youth Foyer (LYFSS) Logan Youth Foyer is funded by the Queensland Department of Housing and aims to offer opportunities and connections to young people aged 16-25 years old to develop their capacity and independence. Logan Youth Foyer is a 24/7 staffed service, works across six main service offers, and aims to connect young people to appropriate social and community resources. This includes an offer of secure, stable transitional housing. Your role as a Youth Development Coach You’ll assists in provide holistic coaching and guidance to young people, as well as coordination of services and advocacy. This will include the development and facilitation of structured activities for young people both on site and externally, as well as linking in with the wider community. The position requires flexible working hours. The role sits within the WMQ Housing and Homelessness Services Department and when required may work across other program areas. The key accountabilities for this role will include: Work collaboratively and positively within a team environment and align with team values. Actively participate in meetings and training and assist with the training, supervision and support of volunteers and placement students if required. Assist in building connections and opportunities across Foyer’s service offers by liaising with stakeholders, to increase opportunities available to young people. Work with other services to optimise communication, reduce access barriers and create pathways. Develop and maintain professional relationships with other services and stakeholders involved with young people and participate in relevant meetings including local networks. Clearly articulate the program’s objectives and capacity to others and promote the service appropriately and professionally within the community. Provide holistic, trauma informed, person centred journey planning, coaching and advocacy with young people within clear and respectful professional boundaries, with informed consent. Maintain high quality, up to date and accurate case notes, documents and data in required systems. Produce reports as required and maintain relevant databases. Assist in the development and facilitation of activities, workshops and outings, which are in line with the objectives of the program and meet identified goals and priorities of young people. Operate within the budget and adhere to all related financial policies and procedures. About You Degree qualifications in human services or a related field required with the required level of experience. Experience engaging with a diverse range of people using coaching and case management principles in a holistic, strengths-based framework. Ability to acquire knowledge of and work within an Advantage Thinking framework and the WMQ Housing and Homelessness Practice framework. Experienced in an intake, assessment, case management, advice, advocacy and referral role or similarly related skills and knowledge. Understanding of the current issues for communities within the Logan LGA. High level communication and interpersonal skills including experience in engaging and working with diverse people with varied needs, including but not limited to mental health, domestic and family violence, financial stress, substance use, and barriers to employment/education. Understanding of and commitment to social justice and community development principles, confidentiality and privacy. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining agency network relationships within the human service environment to enhance client connections to resources and opportunities.
