The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush. We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers. About the Role The Head of Sales & International Marketing leads Sovereign Hill’s strategic approach to visitation growth by strengthening trade partnerships, growing distribution networks, leveraging digital platforms to drive bookings, leveraging strategic marketing initiatives, influencer partnerships, and key industry collaborations. Duties & Responsibilities The role requires: a commercially minded leader with proven expertise in building stakeholder relationships, managing teams, and navigating complex distribution environments a deep understanding of cultural intelligence and the tourism landscape is essential to ensure Sovereign Hill’s brand and offering are compelling and competitive in both domestic and international markets. Desired Qualifications A knowledge of the Australian tourism, hospitality or cultural sector is desirable Minimum 5 years’ experience in tourism sales, international marketing or trade development Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems Successful applicants will be requested to attend an in-person interview, as well as a practical interview on site at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat.
