Senior Software Engineer - User Generated Experiences The EA Digital Platform (EADP) group powers the global EA ecosystem, providing foundational platforms like Cloud, Commerce, Data and AI, Gameplay Services, Identity, and Social. The Challenge Ahead As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key member of the Integrated Content team, focusing on EA's User-Generated Experiences (UGX) technology. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager. This role can be hybrid or remote, based in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, or Ontario, Canada. Responsibilities Develop dynamic, responsive, and resilient systems. Design and implement search features such as Suggesters, Tokenizers, and full-text search, including Fuzzy, faceted, and hybrid search. Tune and optimize search relevancy, incorporating ML models. Design, develop, and maintain complex systems end-to-end. Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and access control for search platforms. Qualifications 8 years of professional experience in backend service programming. Proficiency in Scala and Java. Experience with high traffic, high performance services. Expertise in Search Platform technologies like OpenSearch or ElasticSearch. Skill in designing and optimizing search queries (ElasticSearch DSL, Lucene) and using Search Templates. Knowledge of indexing strategies, search ranking, and relevancy tuning. Familiarity with imperative and functional programming paradigms. Experience with deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS (EKS, OpenSearch, Terraform) or other providers. Building CI/CD pipelines experience. Bonus Skills Experience with Flink or similar streaming platforms. Knowledge of Kotlin or Clojure.
