About the Role This role involves providing discipline-specific technical input in all facets of projects from the initial client inquiry through to the completion of the project, including co-ordination with other disciplines, liaison with clients, associated consultants, local authorities, statutory bodies, production of design deliverables, site inspections, and reporting. The role requires input into business development activities with a key focus on increasing revenue in the Structures Sydney Discipline. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of documentation for project works using standard drafting procedures, practices and undertake basic structural designs, and drafting using computer-aided design equipment and software. Provide technical and administrative support to the manager and/or Project Leader by way of performing engineering calculations, reports, discipline tender, and construction documentation in accordance with Meinhardt standards, building codes, and legislative requirements. Undertake appraisal of engineering designs, and the correctness of certification documents lodged in connection with building applications while following established procedures and documentation standards. Liaise with engineers, project teams, authorities, and clients (where applicable) and assist in maintaining client relationships while ensuring that attendance at resource meetings, and regular feedback/project status updates to Project Leaders. Prepare project reporting and ensure projects meet agreed timelines and fees/budgets and input into project reports is satisfactorily completed within timelines set. Co-ordinate with sub-consultants and integrate them with work as required by the team or Project Leader. Act as a Project Leader on assigned projects, manage projects, site meetings, design workshops, and site inspection as required and/or as project planning stipulates. Ensure that projects are co-ordinated and delivered on time, meet or exceed quality assurance requirements and within budget. Proactive in driving improvement initiatives in conjunction with agreed business plans. Participates in relevant industry groups including attendance at workshops, committee’s and industry social events. Generating new business for the team as well as other Meinhardt businesses. Promote learning amongst team from knowledge derived from regular internal workshops/meetings. Keep an up-to-date operational knowledge of relevant technologies, techniques, skills, legislation, and technical standards. Skills & Experience Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or a closely related discipline is required as well as 5 years’ industry experience. Proven industry experience in the various aspects of engineering design with emphasis on successful delivery of discipline projects, including identifying project risks, problem solving, communicating issues, and delivering solutions. Knowledge and understanding of and ability to apply sustainable and cost-effective principles and solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in the preparation of technical reports. Strong data analysis, interpretation, and data presentation skills. Ability to manage own time and priorities and to assist the rest of the team to meet project objectives in a deadline driven work environment. Ability to show leadership and take responsibility for projects from inception to completion ensuring a smooth workflow process. Membership (or eligibility to be Member) of a relevant national or international accreditation body. Registration (or eligibility to be registered) in relevant state’s professional engineer register for the building/construction industry (if required).
