The Position The Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for the provision of environmental and public health regulatory services. The position is also required to coordinate the operation of dedicated public health programs to protect the health and well-being of the community, including the regulation, inspection and monitoring of registered premises in an effective and efficient manner so as to maintain a high standard of health and regulatory services to the Albury community. Qualifications & experience Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in Public or Environmental Health, Applied Science or other relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain) Demonstrated experience in the planning and coordination of regulatory environmental health programs Tasks & responsibilities Regulate, inspect and monitor food and other premises for public health in accordance with the Local Government Act, the Food Act and the Public Health Act. Provide an advisory service to the community and the organisation in respect to public health and environmental legislation, standards and codes. Investigate complaints about food, health, beauty, public swimming pools, cooling towers and skin penetration premises, and general environmental complaints in respect of noise, odour, storm water, onsite sewerage, air, water and contaminated land. Interpret legislation, standards and develop and implement policies and procedures that will support the flexibility, efficiency and environmental management across Council. Provide an advisory and regulatory service to the Albury community with regards to environmental and public health. Deliver dedicated health promotions and programs including public education to enhance the health and well-being of the community. Hours Based on a 35 Hour Week, with actual days and times being 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with an RDO in accordance with the AlburyCity RDO guidelines.
