The Employer & Role Our client, a leader in Bovine Embryo Transfer and cattle production, is seeking an overseer to join their team in the New England region on a well-equipped 1,500-hectare property. The landscape features diverse soil types, including basalt and fine granite, with creek flats, gently rolling terrain, and timbered hills. Designed for intensive rotational grazing, the property has an established pasture improvement program, central laneways, and strategically placed water points. This year, the team will calve 800 cows, manage offspring and oversee trade stock. The ideal candidate is energetic, team-oriented, and trustworthy, eager to enhance their skills while working closely with the manager. Responsibilities include assisting with calving—such as weighing and tagging calves at birth—overseeing herd health and welfare, and spearheading property development initiatives focused on pasture improvement, water systems, fencing, laneways, and paddock subdivision. All livestock movements will be conducted in a low-stress manner using two-wheel motorbikes, side-by-sides, and well-trained working dogs. The Offer A competitive salary will be negotiated with the candidate. The package includes a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with two wood fireplaces, two split system air conditioners, and an established garden within a secure yard. A vehicle will also be provided for work-related use. You will be located on the New England Highway, approximately 60 kilometres from the major centre of Tamworth and 50 kilometres from Armidale. Both towns offer multiple schooling and university options, as well as major shopping centres, hospitals, and sporting opportunities. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with livestock, well-developed skills (or a keen interest to learn) in pasture management and a strong work ethic, along with the following skills and attributes.
