This is a new position, which will help empower families to make positive decisions to achieve change in their young person's behaviour, safety and ongoing cultural and practical support needs, through providing high-quality therapeutic interventions including therapeutic counselling, safety planning, advocacy, psychoeducation, referrals and other practical support. To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate previous experience tailoring support to the needs and strengths of each family to provide: support to family systems and collaborative problem solving. assistance and advice to families to build their skills and tools to communicate. positively, reduce conflict, improve family interactions and strengthen family bonds. assistance and advice to parents build their knowledge, confidence and skills around DFV through psychoeducation and skill building in de-escalation strategies. support families to navigate service systems and access the information and services they may require. help to develop appropriate safety plans as users and victims of DFV. This will be a full-time (38hrs per week) position for a fixed-term of 12 months located in Armidale, with outreach to surrounding towns also being a core focus of the position. The position may involve day travel from time-to-time, where access to a Company vehicle will be provided. What are we looking for? Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology, or relevant equivalent experience. Previous experience providing therapeutic support to families. Previous experience working towards a case plan – noting that this is not a case manager role. Previous experience working with a diverse range of people from varying backgrounds who are experiencing Domestic & Family Violence, including Aboriginal families. Someone who is strengths-based, family-centred and trauma informed. A holistic mindset with excellent rapport-building skills. A multi-tasker with excellent time management skills. Experienced at diffusing conflict and has great conflict resolution skills to support any potential situations.
