Job description ABOUT US Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, not-for-profit organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation. Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and systemic disadvantage. Equally, we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities and private and public entities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender-based violence in a generation. THE ROLE WAGEC's From Now program works with women and children, providing accommodation and therapeutic programs as they transition out of the corrections system. The program works across the justice, child protection and housing systems, providing safe accommodation to pregnant women and/or women with their children for 3-6 months. During this time, the women access daily, intensive therapeutic support to address their immediate needs and long-term goals. Programs focus on living and parenting skills to develop tools that support their successful reconnection with family and communities. The Case Manager will provide direct support to women and will help to deliver therapeutic programs that support empowerment, increased skill development and begin the recovery journey from trauma. This role reports to the Project Lead and is based at our accommodation site in south-west Sydney, with additional travel to other WAGEC sites and correctional facilities. This is a full-time role on an initial 12-month contract, with the view to being permanent. Having successfully completed the pilot project, From Now has recently secured additional funding and is looking to grow and expand our important services. THE CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE ARE: Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based case management for women in supported accommodation and in correctional facilities Undertake risk assessments, safety planning, and use therapeutic tools to facilitate group work Support the Project Lead with the implementation of the program's policies, procedures and evaluations Build relationships with external stakeholders and agencies to support positive client outcomes Participate in an after-hours On-Call rotating roster Contribute to WAGEC's caring and supportive culture, driving commitment to our social impact. ABOUT YOU We are looking for experienced case managers with at least 3 years of professional experience working with people who've experienced Domestic Violence. Ideally, you'll have solid skills to offer trauma-informed support to women and children who have experienced DV, incarceration, or other complex needs You have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children and/or culturally diverse communities in a human services setting You are compassionate to, and understanding of, the needs of women recently released from incarceration and their families at-risk in the community You'll have extensive experience in child protection, mandatory reporting, risk assessments and safety planning You're a strong communicator, able to adapt your approach to work from a trauma-informed perspective and maintain good professional boundaries Ideally, you'll have qualifications in Social Work, Community Work, Psychology or Counselling, or commensurate experience.
