About the Role The Case Officer plays a critical role in supporting VCAT's case management process by ensuring matters are jurisdictionally sound, procedurally complete, and ready for hearing. The role involves conducting jurisdiction checks, preparing cases, and ensuring all necessary documentation and procedural steps are completed efficiently. By ensuring matters are properly prepared, the Case Officer contributes to reducing inefficiencies and delays in hearings and resolutions. Duties and repsonsibilities include: Assess and review case applications. Proactively liaise with applicants, respondents, legal representatives, and internal teams to resolve procedural issues prior to hearings. Support Tribunal Members by ensuring cases are hearing-ready, improving overall caseflow efficiency. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records within VCAT's case management system. About You This role requires high attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of VCAT's rules and procedures to effectively manage cases before they proceed to hearing. Case Officers work closely with internal stakeholders, including Tribunal Members, legal representatives, and administrative teams to streamline case progression. Case management experience in a legal, tribunal, or government setting is desirable.
