The Role We are searching for an entrepreneurial, agile, and driven Executive General Manager to lead diverse programs and portfolios into the future. Reporting to the CEO, this pivotal leadership role oversees a broad, high-impact organisation with a growing portfolio that exceeds $90 million, and has the appetite for significant expansion beyond current boundaries. Operations span multiple regions, requiring regular interstate travel. You will lead and inspire a high-calibre team, forge strategic partnerships, and manage complex contractual arrangements, all while maintaining a sharp focus on results and continuous improvement. What You Will Lead Develop and execute strategic initiatives to accelerate growth and drive operational excellence. Oversee multiple programs, ensuring contract compliance, quality, and high-performance outcomes. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders nationally. Lead a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, empowering staff, and fostering a unified, performance-driven culture. Navigate a fluid environment, quickly adapting to changing priorities and business focus, with resilience and agility. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and performance, rolling up sleeves and getting involved with the team when needed. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Operational Leadership: Shape and deliver long-term strategic plans in collaboration with the Board and executive team. Lead business development efforts, leveraging commercial acumen to build and expand portfolios beyond existing boundaries. Promote collaboration and alignment across the organisation, ensuring all teams are motivated and focused on shared goals. Performance & Growth: Set clear expectations and drive performance across teams to meet ambitious targets. Use data and insights to identify issues early and implement swift corrective actions. Lead the execution of growth strategies that focus on building new revenue streams and expanding our impact. Contract & Stakeholder Management: Quickly develop a high-level understanding of multiple contracts; then manage and optimise portfolio performance. Foster strong, collaborative relationships with private sector entities, government bodies, and regional partners. Be comfortable with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where focus and priorities shift rapidly. What You Bring Proven executive leadership experience successfully managing large teams and complex, multi-contract portfolios. An entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong appetite for growth beyond current assets. Experience operating in dynamic, fluid environments Comfortable with change, and able to pivot quickly. Ability to understand high-level contract details, yet translate that into strategic action and results. Proven track record of driving performance, meeting, and exceeding targets. A resilient, battle-tested leader who can handle setbacks, fix issues swiftly, and keep momentum moving forward. Strong collaboration skills and excellent communication. Commercially astute, with a focus on expanding portfolios and meeting growth objectives. Not-for-profit experience, as well as experience in employment services and apprenticeships, are desirable.
