The CMC-Research will coordinate the Obstetric Medicine Research Group (OMRG) and will play a central role in the group's work. They will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of OMRG activities, fostering collaborations, supervising and training students, and supporting the day-to-day implementation of OMRG research. The CMC-Research will work with the OMRG to develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the group’s research focus areas, such as medically complicated pregnancy including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), which will have a significant impact on clinical practice. The CMC will have an important research leadership role in sharing their research expertise among midwives, students and clinicians at St George Hospital. The CMC will be required to develop high-quality research networks and collaborate across St George Hospital and with local, national and global, internal and external partners.The position will also involve some education duties particularly involving medically complicated pregnancy, research, and the annual Maternity Care Study Day. CMC Grade 1 - Research: a RM appointed as such to a position approved by the Health Service, who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. Additionally, the RM must have approved post graduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which they are appointed to or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Health Service. An employer may also require a higher qualification in the specialist midwifery field where such qualification is considered essential for the performance of the individual position. Selection Criteria Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Masters degree in a health related field or nearing completion. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in a research position. Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research in health including proficiency and accuracy in qualitative and quantitative analysis (or working towards proficiency) Evidence of research presentations and publications. Demonstrated proficiency in computer literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Endnote. Prior experience with research databases such as REDCap. Participation in successful collaborative research projects and the ability to deliver against targets, timelines and budget restraints, preferably within a multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrated extensive midwifery experience in an acute care facility.
