Katherine West Health Board Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Nurse Vaccinator. This position is well suited to someone with eligible registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a general registered nurse and possess a current practicing certificate with at least 2 years’ post graduate experience with demonstrated clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote area nursing, who has an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities. Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia. Full time non-continuing contract until 30 June 2026 Position Description About the Opportunity This position requires a strong understanding of the principles of primary health care, evidence-based immunisation practice, and the importance of culturally responsive and trauma informed engagement with Indigenous clients and communities. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): Travel to remote communities and engage with local staff and community members to maximise availability and uptake of vaccines. Provide vaccinations, information, and follow-up for clients within the region, in accordance with NT immunisation schedules and guidelines. Work harmoniously and in partnership with other health professionals and health disciplines to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare. Maintain information systems required for the effective management for clients, manage recall lists for clients requiring vaccination.
