Applications close at 11:30pm AEST Sunday 10 August 2025 About the role: You will lead the Patient Blood Management (PBM) Section which supports governments, health service organisations and health care professionals to improve patient outcomes through the appropriate utilisation of blood and blood products and related services. Your role will be to lead the PBM Section to deliver on the NBA's objectives through managing: • the development and maintenance of evidence-based PBM Guidelines and their associated implementation strategies, • the Patient Blood Management Implementation Strategy (including supporting the NBA's Patient Blood Management Advisory Committee), • a national haemovigilance program (including supporting the NBA's Haemovigilance Advisory Committee), and • education (through a contract with BloodSafe e-Learning Australia). You will be expected to demonstrate a sound record in exercising initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and the application of practices and procedures; in providing detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice in relation to complex problems; in applying strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills; and a proven leadership and management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and an understanding of or demonstrated practice in utilising project management approaches. The key duties of the position include Although not exhaustive, the duties and responsibilities of this position may require you to: Provide effective leadership and management of the NBA's Patient Blood Management section, including, mentoring and developing team members and appropriately manage performance and resources Provide oversight and direction for managing contracts (and associated procurement processes), programs and projects, in accordance with the objectives of the National Blood Agreement and government policies Propose and implement innovations within a culture of continuous improvement Build effective relationships and negotiate outcomes with internal and external stakeholders Prepare quality papers, briefs, presentations and correspondence. Proactively engage with senior executive, senior management and the wider NBA, and build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Provide strategic input into organisational strategy and culture as part of the senior management group Work in a collaborative manner as a member of a team and across the NBA. The position may require some interstate travel. As a member of the senior management team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the organisation's overall governance arrangements, its strategic direction and broader organisational leadership.
