The Role Our clients run a family-owned business with locations in northeastern Victoria and New South Wales, focusing on cropping, cattle, and feedlot operations. Their property in Brewarrina, NSW, is situated close to town and has the capacity to background large numbers of young cattle before transporting them to their feedlot in northeastern Victoria. The property includes well-equipped yards and sheds, new fencing, and utilises Ag World for farming management needs. As a skilled station hand, you will be vital in supporting daily operations to enhance the business's efficiency and productivity. Your responsibilities will include stock work such as mustering, moving, drafting, and loading cattle. All livestock handling is conducted in a low-stress manner using two-wheel motorbikes. Additionally, you will monitor the livestock to ensure they have adequate water and feed while addressing any welfare or health issues that may arise. General farm tasks will also be part of your duties, and you should be capable of performing repairs and maintenance on farm equipment, fencing and water reticulation systems. Assistance with farm tasks, including tractor driving may also be required at times. This position primarily involves independent work, with collaboration occurring during mustering and significant projects. Therefore, strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to think ahead are essential qualities for success in this role. The position includes comfortable accommodation in an older Queenslander house, featuring a modern kitchen and split systems throughout. Electricity and internet costs are covered in the package, and a work vehicle is also provided. The location is approximately 25 kilometres West of Brewarrina on bitumen roads. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will possess self-motivation and prior experience in livestock husbandry, alongside a background in station life. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to follow instructions are essential qualities. Additionally, candidates should ideally have the following capabilities and attributes.
