The Client Paratha Gully is a popular Indian restaurant located in Hoppers Crossing in VIC. Renowned for its friendly staff, the venue offers a range of modern and authentic Indian dishes, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences. They are currently looking for a Chef to join their team. The Role This is a full-time role with an annual salary set between $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation and will be based in Hoppers Crossing. Duties will include: Preparing and cooking of food in the commercial Kitchen in the restaurant as per the menu. To plan restaurant menu and estimate all the food and labour costs accordingly. Maintain cost efficiency by routinely sourcing food supplies from vendors within the set budget Adapting food preparation to accommodate customers with special dietary needs. Oversee and implement Food Safety and OH&S practices to ensure a safe and compliant work environment Creating new recipes for weekly dishes offered on special deals from Monday to Thursday and ensure timely update on website. Seasoning and portioning food and arranging it on the plates ready to be served. Maintaining quality of food by regulating temperatures of equipment and making sure food is cooked properly before serving customers Instructing restaurant staff on hygiene regulations and ensuring their consistent implementation. Storing food in temperature-controlled equipment Addressing food preparation concerns with managers, kitchen, and front desk staff. Supervising all kitchen staff and ensuring smooth kitchen operations, including scheduling. Demonstrating cooking techniques to cooks, trainee cooks and advising them on cooking and procedures Managing staff, including rostering, time sheet submissions and job delegation Monitoring portion and waste control Requirements Diploma or Advanced Diploma level qualification Minimum 3 year full time work experience as chef in restaurant setting Specialization in Indian cuisine is highly desirable Strong understanding of Food Safety and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards. Experienced in handling a Tandoor oven. Ability to prepare curries according to the restaurant's menu Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff.
