Our Maintenance & Operations team plays a crucial role with responsibility for delivering a suite of operational services including road, footpath & drainage works, street cleansing, graffiti removal, and public litter collection, alongside our contracted Parks and garden maintenance, sports field maintenance, tree care, and concrete reinstatement works. About the role: As our Senior Contracts Specialist , reporting to the Manager - Maintenance & Operations and working alongside our leadership team - you will provide best practice guidance, development, and contract management leadership. You will use your expertise to ensure contracts are optimised, deliver their intended objectives, and remain compliant with legislative requirements and Council policies. You will lead in this space to ensure that our service contracts are strategic, effective, and delivering real value for the organisation and the community. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Lead the development, implementation and management of high-value contracts across maintenance and operational services Provide expert guidance on contract structure, performance frameworks, and compliance Monitor supplier performance and work closely with contractors to ensure service levels are met or exceeded Drive improvements in how contracts are scoped, procured, and managed Support internal teams to navigate contract issues and get the best outcomes from service providers Ensure all contract activity aligns with legislative requirements and Council policy About You You're an experienced contract management professional, with a solid understanding of procurement processes and contract delivery-ideally in local government, infrastructure, or a civil operations environment. You're confident in interpreting specifications and performance frameworks. Good with people, collaborative and focused - you know how to influence outcomes through effective relationships and a practical, hands-on approach. To be successful in this role key skills and experience includes: Proven experience managing complex, high-value or multi-service contracts Strong knowledge of strategic procurement, commercial and contract lifecycle management Knowledge of contract law including relevant codes, standards, and guidelines The ability to provide support to contract/service managers, and the Manager Maintenance & Operations, in resolving escalated contract issues and disputes Competent ability to review complex contract documents, design drawings and specifications in a time constrained environment Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, influence and communication skills A focus on continuous improvement and value for money A collaborative, team-oriented mindset Advanced computer literacy and competency with Microsoft applications Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Engineering, Law, or related field would be well regarded, as would extensive experience working within a large and complex organisation.
