Your Employer Our client, a well-established agribusiness with operations across multiple farms in Australia, is seeking a reliable and skilled Irrigationist Assistant to join their team in Orielton, Tasmania. This is a full-time, permanent position supporting the efficient delivery of irrigation programs vital to the farm’s crop production and sustainability. Your Role As an Irrigationist Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the irrigation team in executing daily water management tasks, system upkeep, and scheduling across cropping areas. This position will contribute to achieving optimal irrigation outcomes through timely monitoring, operation, and maintenance of equipment under the direction of the Irrigationist or Irrigation Manager. Key Responsibilities Assist in determining hydraulic requirements to support efficient irrigation system performance. Support the implementation of irrigation programs tailored to the crop lifecycle and soil conditions. Help schedule and adjust irrigation cycles in response to environmental and crop data. Operate and maintain pumping systems, filters, pipes, valves, and irrigation equipment. Assist in interpreting and applying irrigation system plans and layouts. Support the supervision and coordination of irrigation system installations and seasonal maintenance. Monitor system performance to identify and resolve minor issues early. Liaise with other farm teams to ensure irrigation tasks align with broader farming activities. Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following: Certificate II in Irrigation, Agriculture or a related field, or at least two years relevant equivalent experience. Understanding of irrigation systems, including pumps, meters, filters, and controllers. Practical experience operating and maintaining irrigation equipment. Strong observational and troubleshooting skills. Ability to follow technical irrigation schedules and work unsupervised when required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A current driver’s licence and ability to work outdoors in a physically active role.
