The Position The Curator, First Nations leads the development of all First Nations programs at MAMA, playing a vital role in embedding First Nations perspectives and cultural knowledge in the MAMA artistic program and related public and outreach programs. Qualifications & experience Tertiary qualifications in Art History, Theory, Fine Arts, Curatorial Studies, or related field or relevant, equivalent work experience. Statutory Declaration or Certificate confirming Aboriginality Experience in First Nations art and culture including established networks within local and wider First Nations communities. Tasks & responsibilities Lead the development of all First Nations programs within the MAMA artistic program and provide oversight of First Nations engagement and outreach programs, in alignment with the museum’s strategic programming goals. Develop artistic programs centred on First Nations artists, artworks, and cultural knowledge, in collaboration with Curatorial & Collections team. Maintain strong working relationships with First Nations communities locally and widely. Work collaboratively with the Curatorial & Collections team on exhibition projects across the museum’s artistic program. Work with the Curatorial & Collections team on the development of the Murray Art Museum Albury collection. Hours Based on 35 hours per week, across a 7-day spread, with actual days and times being worked in accordance with facility roster. Hours worked on weekends will attract the appropriate loadings.
