The key duties of the position include The Role The APS 6 Senior Technical Officer plays a key role in supporting the capability life cycle of Defence armaments. This position is responsible for delivering specialised technical advice, conducting In-Service Surveillance, complex performance assessments, and applying delegated technical authorities in accordance with legislative, regulatory, and policy frameworks. Working under broad direction, the successful candidate will independently plan, execute, and oversee technical EO armaments activities, ensuring the safety, performance, and compliance of Defence materiel. The role requires a high level of professional judgement, initiative, and stakeholder engagement to support operational outcomes and continuous improvement. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. About our Team The Explosive Ordnance Surveillance Team (EOST) is an integral part of the Directorate of Engineering within the Portfolio, Program and Product/Project Management Services branch, which sits under the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group Systems Division. The team is primarily based in Penrith, NSW. Our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
