This role will be responsible for supporting and implementing AIGCC ’s work on investor and corporate engagement in the transition of power utilities sector across key Asian markets , with a focus i n the Southeast Asia region . Activities will be convened through AIGCC’s Energy Transition Working Group and AIGCC’s Asia Utilities Engagement Program (AUEP ) , along with power utility sector companies within Climate Action 100 (“CA100”) and other thematic AIGCC Working Groups as relevant . It will involve engagement with various stakeholders ranging from investors, corporates, policymakers and industry bodies. The role reports to AIGCC Director of Investor Practice and will require close collaboration with other Program Directors overseeing policy and steward ship & corporate engagement respectively. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Develop and lead the coal to clea n transition project including a research report and convenings focused on Southeast Asian economies in the power utilities sector in consultation with relevant investors , extending and reinforcing our existing work program s related to energy transition . Project manage and implement AIGCC’s Energy Transition W orking G roup . Curate briefing sessions and webinars for investors , and in-person or/and hybrid roundtable discussions with the support from external research organisations and reference to relevant guidance frameworks or initiatives for engagement with investors, companies, and multi-stakeholder in the power utilities sector . Collaborate with other team members and investors to lead stewardship and corporate engagement for Southeast Asian target companies under the Asian Utilities Engagement Program. Develop long-term strategies to advance energy transition priorities in selected Asian markets through convening extended activities to support continued engagement. Provide expert input on meeting long-term goals such as establishing a forum for dialogue between a wide range of stakeholders in power sector decarbonisation . Work with the Communications Team to develop key messaging on energy transition, including via investor, corporate or policy engagement case studies to shape the narrative for relevant decarbonisation pathways for the power utility sector in Southeast Asian markets. Promote AIGCC’s advocacy goals through multiple communication channels, including representing AIGCC in forums and public events, as . Skills and qualifications 5 -8 years’ experience covering the power utilities/ energy sector , ideally as a sector research analyst at a financial institution with exposure to corporate, policy , or investment, with a focus on climate, energy transition , or environmental matters. Good communicator with written and spoken fluency in English is a must . Fluency in other major Asian languages, regarded as a positive. Experience in designing and managing complex projects characterised by changing dynamics and myriad of relationships between investors, companies and think tanks . Understanding of the sector , including in relevance of market-level policies, structures, transition plans, clean energy potential, and transition financing. Experience in supporting and coordinating events, such as convening workshops, roundtable discussions and panel discussions, and collaborations on outcomes across multiple time zones, markets, and cultures. Ability to evaluate workload and prioritise projects in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Desire to work in a mission-driven and non-profit environment.
