About the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and operational performance of 12 concrete plants. This is a hands-on, site-focused leadership role (approximately 70% on-site), requiring a strong, proactive presence across all locations to ensure operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction. As a critical leader in the business, you will drive performance, optimise plant operations, and ensure seamless collaboration with logistics, sales, and technical teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable responding to operational challenges at short notice, and play a key role in scaling the business through a significant growth phase over the next 3–5 years. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage operations across 12 concrete plant sites, ensuring performance targets are met in safety, quality, productivity, and customer service Provide leadership to 25–30 direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement Be operationally hands-on, including early-morning site response if plant issues arise (e.g., breakdowns) Monitor and maintain compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards Work closely with logistics, sales, and technical teams to ensure customer delivery and service standards are consistently met Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise operational processes, plant efficiency, and workforce utilisation Support and lead through a period of significant business growth, including scaling resources, capacity, and performance capability Manage costs, budgets, and resources effectively while identifying opportunities for efficiencies and improvements About You Proven experience in multi-site operational management, preferably within the concrete, construction, or building materials industry Hands-on, practical leadership style – willing to be actively involved in site issues, maintenance, and production Demonstrated ability to manage large teams (20–30), including performance development and workforce planning Strong understanding of safety, quality, and environmental regulations and standards Commercially astute with the ability to balance operational efficiency and customer outcomes Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working cross-functionally Resilient, calm under pressure, and able to operate effectively in unpredictable, time-sensitive situations Forward-thinking and growth-oriented – able to help the business scale sustainably.
