Must have NV1 clearance 12 months CONTRACT with potential extensions Onsite working arrangement ( 5 days a week on-site in Canberra CBD) Daily rate: $1,100 (inc SUPER) ROLE OVERVIEW We are hiring a highly skilled Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take a lead role in architecting and sustaining secure, scalable, and compliant cloud environments across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 . This role is key to driving forward cloud enablement initiatives, delivering modern infrastructure solutions, and ensuring adherence to government-mandated security frameworks and operational policies. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Build and manage secure, scalable Azure environments using standardized architecture models, including Hub-and-Spoke networks and landing zones. Leverage infrastructure-as-code tools like Bicep, Terraform, and ARM templates to automate infrastructure deployment and updates. Administer cloud identity and access solutions, including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, PIM, and secure B2B integration. Manage identity integrations for enterprise applications using protocols such as SSO, OAuth, and SCIM. Design and maintain core Azure network services including ExpressRoute, VNets, DNS, NSGs, and Private Link. Support compute resources, backups, and automation scripting using CLI, PowerShell, and Runbooks. Monitor cloud infrastructure for performance, availability, and security using Sentinel, Azure Monitor, and Defender for Cloud. Ensure systems are aligned with national security standards such as the ISM and the Essential Eight. Provide day-to-day operational support for Microsoft 365 services, ensuring service reliability and user access. Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including governance, security, and finance teams. MORE ABOUT YOU Core Technical Skills (Azure): Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, B2B collaboration, and privileged access controls Proficiency in deploying and managing VMs, backup strategies, and disk management Strong background in Azure networking: VPNs, ExpressRoute, DNS, network segmentation, and firewalls Familiarity with private endpoints, service endpoints, and reverse proxy solutions Expert in cloud automation using scripting tools and Azure-native services Governance and policy management via Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and cost tracking tools Experience deploying secure cloud frameworks following Australian Government cybersecurity guidance Core Technical Skills (Microsoft 365): Administration of Microsoft 365 identity and security features: MFA, Conditional Access, app registrations Endpoint management using Microsoft Intune, Autopilot provisioning, compliance baselines Configuration and monitoring of Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Office 365, Identity) M365 collaboration tools: SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive management including guest access controls Power Platform administration for light workflow automation and app integration Security and audit event monitoring via Microsoft 365 Compliance Center and Sentinel SIEM Strong track record of maintaining operational integrity of Microsoft 365 environments DESIRABLE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Experience integrating Microsoft cloud services with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow Working knowledge of cloud financial governance and FinOps methodologies Exposure to government cloud accreditation processes (e.g., PROTECTED classification) Ability to collaborate effectively with legal, procurement, and risk teams Awareness of emerging technologies, including generative AI infrastructure in a cloud context If this opportunity aligns with your expertise and aspirations, please apply!
