Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, our client seeks a Senior Project Engineer, you will support the Project Delivery Manager in the successful planning, engineering, and execution of a Gold Project in East Africa. Based in Perth, this role provides engineering oversight, coordination of contractors and consultants, and project controls support to ensure that project milestones are achieved on time, on budget, and in accordance with safety and quality expectations. On offer is an initial 12 month fixed term contract, as other projects come on board there could be the potential for this to extend Management of Safety, Environment, & Community Relations Provide safety leadership to the project with a strong focus on the standards, quality, critical risk management and process safety. Assist in coordinating project support from other site areas including health & safety, site maintenance, site services, electrical, etc. Project and Construction Management Act as the interface between the Project Director and contractors Assist the Project Director in developing and maintaining overall project schedules, budgets and target deliverables Monitor quality of output by ensuring it is aligned with the needs of the project Ensuring project milestones are achieved within approved schedules and approved budget Participate in plant commissioning activities Ensure that all projects are managed on time and adequately resourced Technical Management Review and act upon any technical queries which may be raised through the project execution phase Help provide construction and constructability technical support to site-based staff Provide support in bids, tenders, presentations and other project related activities Review specifications, offer input, negotiate and coordinate the construction and management of site variation and design changes Project Controls and Coordination Assist in development and tracking of project schedules, budgets, and forecasts Coordinate inputs to project reporting, progress claims, and contractor performance Contribute to contract and procurement scopes, evaluation processes, and recommendations Review of contractor tenders & contract management Site Interface Undertake site visits to assess progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with Perth-based planning. Collaborate with site teams during early works, construction, and commissioning preparation. Support alignment between head office and field execution strategies Essential Experience in project development (preferably gold) Strong report writing skills and previous exposure to project controls arena would be a distinct advantage Substantial experience in overseeing contract packages Experience in overseeing mineral processing plant and construction of mine site infrastructure Strong business acumen and commercially minded Effective written and verbal communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups Ability to work independently and take initiative within a dynamic project environment Ability and willingness to travel to Tanzania on an ad hoc basis Desired Previous experience working on African mining projects (West or East Africa preferred) Experience with EPCM delivery models and contractor oversight Understanding of project permitting, approvals, and stakeholder engagement processes French and/or Swahili language skills are advantageous but not essential It is a requirement you have a bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline with 5 - 10 years post trade.
