Jumbuck are a fourth generation business, operating large scale cattle and sheep stations across Australia for over 130 years. Commonwealth Hill Station runs around 30,000 Merino sheep over an area of 1,000,000 acres with a full-time permanent staff of 10. The property sits about 110km west of the Stuart Highway, with the turnoff mid-way between Glendambo and Coober Pedy. Commonwealth Hill is well resourced, maintained and managed across both infrastructure, equipment and livestock. We are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time station hand to the team who is looking to build a long-term career. Experience riding 2-wheel motorbikes is expected (or ability to learn) along with being comfortable living and working in Australia’s remote outback. For this role, experience with sheep or livestock is not essential as we are happy to invest the time to develop the right person in these areas. This is a great opportunity for a First Year looking to step into a large station environment. Some of what you will be involved in: Mustering of sheep on 2-wheel motorbikes Water runs – checking various dams, bores and water points Yard work, fencing and infrastructure upkeep Various mechanical work including engine and small motor maintenance and servicing The station is easily accessed by vehicle or alternatively by a daily Greyhound Bus Service along the nearby Stuart Highway. A competitive day rate is on offer, in line with experience. Single person accommodation (aircon), meals and Starlink internet are provided along with 6 weeks annual leave and ongoing staff bonus.
