The Role In this role, the Principal Power Systems Engineer drives successful delivery of projects through the application of high-level engineering and problem solving skills and leveraging broad industry experience and subject matter expertise in key SCADA applications. The Principal Power Systems Engineer impacts the achievement of project objectives by setting the direction for effective delivery of major applications and components. The incumbent will provide subject matter expertise, and/or work with other subject matter experts globally to ensure deep product knowledge is available to, and applied effectively, in regional project planning and execution. Taking lead from business unit objectives, the Principal Power Systems Engineer will collaborate with Power Systems Engineering, Development, Product Management, and SMEs globally to build a knowledge base of advanced applications, and identify and resolve complex technical challenges, in support of effective and efficient regional project delivery and customer support. It is expected that the Principal Power Systems Engineer will be an effective communicator, and be able to clearly explain complex concepts, problems and solutions to customers, and both engineers and non-engineers across functions. This may take the form of written papers, verbal communication and/or group presentations as required. Your Impact Lead collaboration across Project Engineering, Power Systems Engineering and Project Management to diagnose and solve complex advanced application issues. Work with customers directly as a senior engineering representative to deliver key advanced application functionality and solve technically complex issues. Maintain effective global relationships amongst SMEs responsible for key products and disciplines. Provide local subject matter expertise, and/or facilitate the provision of such expertise from global experts as needed. Contribute to the coaching and development of junior engineers across the department. Provide detailed analysis of product and configuration issues Devise elegant and efficient solutions to complex problems impacting project success. Develop and maintain broad knowledge of energy markets and customer drivers Stay up to date with industry standards and trends What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in Engineer or related field; degree in Electrical Engineer, Power System Engineering or a related discipline Min 10 years of experience in a Power System Engineering role including Outage Management System and Switch Order Management Application Engineering role Specialised applied knowledge of one or more SCADA advanced applications, including DERMS, ADMS, DPF, FliSR, VVC/VVO, Continua and others. Broad knowledge of Project Engineering and Power Systems Engineering disciplines In depth knowledge of practical application of SCADA and associated applications Experience operating, maintaining, delivering and/or supporting complex SCADA installations Familiarity with energy markets and corresponding customer regulatory and technical drivers Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving complex issues Strong written and verbal communication skills Effectively manage time, and context switch between multiple competing tasks effectively LI-RK1
