Hawksworth have partnered with a major Financial to on-board an Application Architect. This is an initial 6 month contract . The role will be based in Sydney, working 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. The primary purpose of the role is to undertake complex technical assessments for java based application development and enhancement to ensure the solution is fit for purpose and in line with industry practices and standards. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Extensive experience in Java development (J2EE, Spring), Web services (SOAP, XML, REST), Web development (Angular, HTML, JavaScript, JSP ORM (Hibernate) and business rules engines. Significant experience in working on structured (Iterative or Agile Scrum) SDLC process Leadership level design skills in OO Design, UML, domain modelling etc. Understand CI/CD techniques and be able to apply across a toolchain including GIT, Bamboo, Jenkins, Ansible. Familiariaty with cloud providers (AWS/Azure), containers, spring boot, and container platforms such as Kuberneties or OpenShift. Experience in delivering software projects into production environments in Insurance or Financial Services organisations. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies and frameworks. Ability to recognise, avert, manage and escalate conflicts to enable effective and timely resolution in accordance with organisational processes. Ability to manage complex negotiations to ensure mutual agreement between parties is achieved. Ideally this candidate would be familiar with: Security is a high focus now, there’s a number of projects concerned with strengthening their security posture Useful knowledge would be in the space of mTLS/O-Auth/PCI and/or OWASP TOP 10 Prior experience in managing vulnerabilities and patch management on business services would be desirable Cloud migration is becoming an expanding field of work Understanding of automation technologies like Helm or Anisble Prior work with zero trust sidecars such as istio (Google’s service mesh manager) or similar Management of Java based COTS (commercial off the shelf) packages on prem and to cloud desirable DevOps automation and CI/CD would be highly desirable, especially regarding automation testing. - Take overall responsibility for architecture and design for complex java based applications to ensure that the solution meets enterprise architecture and business. - Lead technical assessments for complex applications and integrations to ensure optimisation of resources, adherence to the company's standards and regulatory requirements.
